The Quality of Presence in Action
A Guide
by Sylvie Olivier
The Quality of Presence does not take root as a process. It is recalled through simple, concrete, and practiced points of integration.
Complexity arises as soon as we try to turn it into a method.
Quality of Presence = Feeling the body + Being in the present moment + Appreciating
1. Return to the body, often and briefly
Incorporate short reminders into your daily routine:
- Feel your feet on the ground
- Rest your back against the seat
- Feel your hands as they move
- Take a conscious breath
A few seconds are enough. It is the practice that takes hold, not the duration.
2. Link Presence to actual action
Do not separate Presence from work. Simply tell yourself: “I am present in what I am doing, right now.”
Whether it’s for:
- Assembling a part
- Responding to a customer
- Organizing a space
- Or any other activity
Presence is experienced in action.
3. Introduce Appreciation as a conscious choice
As a simple check-in:
- Recognize what’s working
- Appreciate a job well done
- Notice an improvement, even a small one
- Appreciate a colleague
Appreciation naturally stabilizes the present moment when it is felt.
4. Use the Harmony Agreement as support
When Presence wavers, we don’t add pressure.
We clarify:
— What is required
— What is chosen
The agreement brings clarity and integrity, without overload.
Please note that an article on this topic will be available soon.
5. Integration practice
This isn’t something to “impose.” If someone on the team is truly present, you can feel it.
And that influences more than any directive.
Ultimately, simplifying… means removing everything that isn’t necessary.
Quality of Presence asks for nothing more. It simply asks to be brought back, again and again, to what is already there, until it is fully integrated.
