A Society That Values \u201cDOING\u201d<\/b><\/h5>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

In our society, performance is everywhere.<\/span><\/p>

We\u2019re encouraged to be <\/span>more<\/b> efficient<\/b>, <\/span>more productive<\/b>, <\/span>more profitable<\/b>, and <\/span>faster<\/b>. From a very early age, we learn to <\/span>measure our worth by our results<\/b>. We perform well in school. We perform well at work. We perform in our relationships. We sometimes even perform in our personal development.<\/span><\/p>

Performance has become <\/span>synonymous with success<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>

And yet…<\/span><\/p>

  • How many people achieve their goals while feeling an<\/span> inner emptiness<\/b>?<\/span><\/li>
  • How many succeed outwardly while feeling as though they\u2019re drifting away from themselves?<\/span><\/li><\/ul>


    <\/span>Perhaps the question isn\u2019t whether performance is good or bad.<\/span><\/p>

    The real question might be: <\/span>From what space do we perform?<\/i><\/b><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

    \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
    When performance becomes a quest for worth<\/b><\/h5>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
    \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

    When fueled by <\/span>fear<\/b>, <\/span>comparison<\/b>, or the <\/span>need for recognition<\/b>, performance becomes <\/span>demanding<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>

    It constantly pushes us toward an \u201c<\/span>elsewhere<\/b>.\u201d<\/span><\/p>

    It makes us believe that <\/span>our worth depends on what we accomplish<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>

    <\/i>We then seek to be more.<\/span><\/i>
    <\/span><\/i>To do more.<\/span><\/i>
    <\/span><\/i>To possess more.<\/span><\/i><\/p>

    As if who we are today were never quite enough.<\/span><\/p>

    This form of performance can yield great results, but it often leaves <\/span>little room for inner PEACE<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

    \n\t\t\t\t\t\t
    \n\t\t\t\t\t
    \n\t\t\t
    \n\t\t\t\t\t\t
    \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\"alone\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

    When performance becomes an expression<\/b><\/h5>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
    \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

    However, there is another way to experience performance.<\/span><\/p>

    When it <\/span>springs from inspiration<\/b>, <\/span>Joy<\/b>, or a <\/span>sincere sense of contributing<\/b>, it becomes a <\/span>natural expression of who we are<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>

    • We continue to <\/span>act<\/b>.<\/span><\/li>
    • We continue to engage in <\/span>cocreating<\/b>.<\/span><\/li>
    • We continue to <\/span>accomplish<\/b>.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

      But we no longer seek to prove our worth. We simply express our <\/span>talents<\/b>, our <\/span>creativity<\/b>, and our <\/span>uniqueness<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>

      Performance then ceases to be a race.<\/span> It becomes a dance<\/b>!<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

      \n\t\t\t\t\t\t
      \n\t\t\t\t\t
      \n\t\t\t
      \n\t\t\t\t\t\t

      The Different Stages of Human Performance<\/b><\/h5>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
      \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

      Early in life, we often seek to <\/span>HAVE<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>

      To have money.<\/span><\/i>
      <\/span><\/i>To have security.<\/span><\/i>
      <\/span><\/i>To have resources.<\/span><\/i><\/p>

      Then we seek to <\/span>DO<\/b>.<\/span>
      <\/span><\/i><\/i><\/p>

      To engage in cocreating.<\/span><\/i>
      <\/span><\/i>To build.<\/span><\/i>
      <\/span><\/i>To accomplish.<\/span><\/i><\/p>

      Next, we aspire to <\/span>SUCCEED<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>

      To be recognized.<\/span><\/i>
      <\/span><\/i>To reach our goals.<\/span><\/i>
      <\/span><\/i>To leave our mark.<\/span><\/i><\/p>

      But over time, many discover that something deeper is calling.<\/span><\/p>

      We feel the need to:<\/span>
      <\/span><\/i><\/i><\/p>

      Connect more deeply\u2014with ourselves and others.<\/span><\/i>
      <\/span><\/i>Grow inwardly and flourish.<\/span><\/i>
      <\/span><\/i>Align ourselves with what is true for us.<\/span><\/i><\/p>

      And finally, a question emerges:<\/span><\/p>

      \u201cWho am I when I stop defining myself by my results? \u201d<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

      \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
      Beyond Performance<\/b><\/h5>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
      \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

      At this point, performance takes on an entirely new meaning.<\/span><\/p>

      • It is no longer about proving.<\/span> It is about expressing.<\/b><\/li>
      • It is no longer about convincing. It is about <\/span>shining.<\/b><\/li>
      • It is no longer about becoming someone. It is about <\/span>revealing<\/b> what is already there.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

        When we explore this space, our contribution to the world becomes simpler, more fluid, and more authentic.<\/span><\/p>

        • We continue to <\/span>cocreate<\/b>.<\/span><\/li>
        • We continue to <\/span>act<\/b>.<\/span><\/li>
        • We continue to <\/span>achieve<\/b> beautiful things.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

          But we do so because life flows naturally through us.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

          \n\t\t\t\t\t\t
          \n\t\t\t\t\t
          \n\t\t\t
          \n\t\t\t\t\t\t
          \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\"Successful\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
          \n\t\t\t\t\t\t
          \n\t\t\t\t\t
          \n\t\t\t
          \n\t\t\t\t\t\t
          \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
          Presence as a New Definition of Excellence<\/b><\/h5>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
          \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

          We have often associated excellence with effort, discipline, or perseverance.<\/span><\/p>

          But perhaps there is another form of excellence.<\/span><\/p>

          An excellence that doesn\u2019t arise from pressure.<\/span><\/i>
          <\/span><\/i>An excellence that arises from coherence.<\/span><\/i><\/p>

          When our thoughts, words, actions, and feelings move in the same direction, things become simpler.<\/span><\/p>

          Energy flows.<\/span><\/p>

          • Decisions<\/b> become <\/span>clearer<\/b>.<\/span><\/li>
          • Relationships<\/b> become more <\/span>genuine<\/b>.<\/span><\/li>
          • Performance<\/b> then ceases to be a struggle.<\/span><\/li>
          • It becomes the natural consequence of <\/span>alignment<\/b>.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
            \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
            Conclusion: What if we redefined performance?<\/b><\/h5>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
            \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

            Perhaps true human performance isn\u2019t about always doing more.<\/span><\/p>

            Perhaps it isn\u2019t about achieving more, either.<\/span><\/p>

            Perhaps it consists of becoming present enough to allow our essence to express itself freely.<\/b><\/p>

            To be ourselves in a world that constantly invites us to be something else.<\/span><\/i>
            <\/span><\/i>To act without losing ourselves.<\/span><\/i>
            <\/span><\/i>To contribute without burning out.<\/span><\/i>
            <\/span><\/i>To succeed without needing to prove ourselves.<\/span><\/i><\/p>

            What if the greatest success were not what we accomplish… but rather the <\/span>Quality of Presence<\/b> with which we live our lives? For when we are in <\/span>Presence<\/b>, we appreciate the simple, small moments of every instant just as much as the grander, more spectacular moments.<\/span><\/p>

            In Quality of Presence, we <\/span>truly APPRECIATE every moment<\/b>\u2026 which assists us in LIVING our lives instead of merely surviving or scraping by until the end of the day, the weekend, vacation, or retirement.<\/span><\/p>

            These moments I\u2019ve listed are part of our lives, of course\u2026 but instead of being mere dots on our timeline, they are interwoven with connecting lines lived in Presence.<\/span><\/p>

            In closing, I\u2019d like to emphasize that the question asked at the beginning of this conclusion doesn\u2019t call for a ready-made answer. It <\/span>simply invites each of us to discover our own alignment<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>
